Authentic Manifestation - What's the Difference?

I want to share my personal story about manifesting my “dream life”.

Like many young girls, I was deeply fascinated by horses. Every year for Christmas, I asked Santa to bring me a horse – but every year I was disappointed. I grew up in the Florida suburbs, so living on a farm with animals was a foreign fantasy, drifting in and out of focus throughout my life –but never fading completely away.

In college, I moved to New York City pursuing my artistic passions of acting, photography, and music. Big city life fueled a part of me, but the dream of living in the country with horses was still there, in the back of my mind.

The truth is, I had no idea how I could ever make that an attainable goal. At the time, I couldn’t imagine leaving the city, where would I go? I still dreamed about horses, but I certainly didn’t have any concept of how they might fit into my daily life (or career). At this time in my life, I was mostly motivated by the societal pressure to be “successful” at something. I wanted to make money to prove my value and find acknowledgment.

Fast forward six years– I left the city. I felt aimless after deciding that the life of a professional artist living in the big city wasn’t as romantic as I had once thought. I knew I needed a new direction, something to fuel my soul, but I had no idea what I was looking for. I just felt the call of my wild self.

Changing directions and leaving behind my initial “goals” to search for something more fulfilling left me in a new place of stillness. It was scary feeling–but for the first time in a long time, I was quiet enough to hear my intuition. I was no longer worried about a plan, I wanted to follow a sense of true purpose– my Authentic Self was calling to me.

I started making decisions based on my gut feeling, rather than my usual logical and calculated plans. I noticed one of my sister’s friends was posting photos on social media of beautiful wild horses and teepees in the desert –suddenly I was inclined to go. Based on a vague idea and a new spark within me, I set out on a trip to live in the desert of Nevada and work around wild horses.

I can’t emphasize enough how little I knew of what I was doing or where it was leading.

When you follow your intuition from an authentic place, it requires you to let go of the linear plan, because by doing so, you acknowledge that you don’t have control or clear sight of the whole picture. I was finally at a point in my life where I was able to do this. There was a sense of trust that I was on the right path, even if I didn’t understand it. That’s when everything changed for me.

I’ll skip over the details of all of  the decisions that fell into place like dominos.  None of these decisions were directly related to me getting a horse, it felt like a lot of “one thing(s) led to another”.  It felt like I was just riding a wave of my true self– listening to the small whispers that presented themselves in the mundane, and just following them one at a time.

Before I had time to even comprehend how many life-dreams I was realizing, I was united with my dream-horse (Kamali), getting married to my soul mate, and buying a farm of our own– not to mention I had found my path of teaching the wisdom of the horse through Soul Equine (something I am SO passionate about).

I tell this story to illustrate a fairly simple, yet challenging, concept. Manifesting your dreams doesn’t always look like a straight line. In fact, oftentimes it doesn’t look like anything at all until it’s happening. We are so conditioned to plan out our life as if we can control the outcome by making all of the “right” choices. However, when I was living life that way, all I ever experienced was constant striving, stress, and disappointment at the outcome. Your ego wants to take the lead and “achieve” success in the way that your False Self imagines will make you happy, but the truth is that’s not how real fulfillment works, because it’s not authentic. Your ego thinks it knows what you need to be happy, but it doesn’t.

Authenticity is the ability to stay present and listen to your intuition, so that it leads you down the path of your true purpose. I promise you, when you trust your Authentic Self to guide you, so much more real magic awaits you than what you think  you need or want. The fact that the process also feels easier, more relaxed, and natural is just the icing on the cake.
